Day 73 March 16, 2016. SEA DAY. En route to Ko Samui on the Opulence of the Orient

Oh how we needed this day to regroup our bodies. Especially our feet. Walking 7-8 miles was fun but very tiring in the heat and humidity. Well we have 400 new faces on board. We also have a new cruise director and a new Captain. Our new Captain hails from Dubrovinik, Croatia. His name is Captain Maroje Brajcic. In 1992 he traveled the world aboard cargo vessels. He served as a deck officer on a variety of vessels before joining Renaissance Cruises in Jan 2000. He continued with Renaissance ships until the purchase of the ms Insignia by the newly formed Oceania Cruises
As far as our new cruise director he is from Seattle Ray Carr a 23 year veteran and still resides in Seattle. He has a 13 year old daughter that lives in Montreal. He had a 2 year break from cruising and then decided to follow is passion and heart and return to the sea as part of the Oceania family. His philosophy during this sailing is " Come on board as a stranger and leave as a friend. I talked to him today and he grew up in Bellevue the same as I did. Went to Lake Samamish high school graduated in 1985. Ten years after me. Small world.
