Day 58 March 1, 2016. Anchored at Male, Maldives on the Indian Ocean Passage

Small, quaint, and densely settled. Male (pronounced Mar lay) is not spectacular, but quite unique as a capital city.  It's clean and tidy with mosques, markets, and a maze of small streets and a certain charm of its own.  The island is about 2km (1.2mi) long and 1km (.62mi) and packed to the edges with buildings, roads and a few well used open spaces.  Population is around 65,000 but like the Thousand Islands in the summer there could be as many as 100,000 people in town.  All the major hotels, airport are on there own island.  There are over 20 mosques scattered around Male.  We walked for 4 hours all around this crowded island.  People are very friendly and English is really not a problem here.
