Day 117. April 29, 2016. SEA DAY Enroute to Darwin, Australia on the Far East Traveler

Well we say good bye to Indonesia and Asia and we welcome in Ozzie land.  Yes tomorrow we are in Darwin Australia. We had so much fun in Indonesia, we both didn't want to leave.

So as you can see Darwin is at the top of Australia. Then we are heading to the right to Cairns and down to Sydney.
So some shots as we sailed out of Komoto Island yesterday.

The village of Komoto.
Very very dry this time of year.  In 2012 our first world it was so green. But that was in March, what a difference a month makes.  Last night we had a Indonesian dinner and it was great.  They really did a good job
Some of the beautiful colors of dessert
Before anyone got there.
We are having dinner with Steve and Tricia again tonight.  They are from the Entertainment team.  We really enjoy them.  Onto Australia thanks for joining us. Leslee & Bob.....

Day 116 April 28, 2016 ~ Komodo Island, Komoto Indonesia on the Far East Traveler

Cute and cuddly they are not. Komodo dragons, the largest lizards on earth, are vicious-looking, and they have a bad reputation. Wild pigs and Timor deer are their preferred food, but they have been known to attack and eat full-grown water buffalo and even, on rare occasions, humans. If the dragon's shark-like teeth don't kill you, you'll probably succumb to the deadly bacteria in the dragon's mouth.

Komodo National Park was established to protect the habitat of the rare Komodo dragon, first discovered over one hundred years ago. The dragon is an endangered species, with only three to five thousand left in the wild. The National Park also protects tourists, by requiring that the island can only be explored on foot and in the company of a licensed guide. Our guide, Franco, led us carefully down the footpaths, providing commentary and pointing out a wild pig, several Timor deer, a bee's nest, and several piles of scat. The main event: four Komodo dragons at a waterhole. Three were adult males, and one was a baby, maybe three years old. It was very hot and humid walking around.  When we returned to the ship we were greeting with kids yelling "Money, please." "We need food." Local children, hoping for a hand-out, shouted from a group of battered outrigger canoes that paddled around our anchored ship all day. This was the sad part of our day at Komodo Island. The scenery was a happy surprise. On the contrary, Komodo and its neighbouring islands have gorgeous craggy mountains, savannas, and monsoon rainforests. Like Borneo and Bali, Komodo looks like a great destination for snorkeling.

Day 114. April 26, 2016. SPECIAL EVENT ... THE BALINESE FEAST...PART 1. On the Far East Traveler

Wow wow wow.  How can I describe our evening we had.  When we got off the ship....(first of all there was 225 people that went) we were given a number which matched the bus you were to be on.  There were 10 busses.  Then we went to a guide that had our number and we were then dressed in a special sarong, men with a hat.  All different colors, it happened so fast you were dressed and in the bus.  When we walked out Made was there to take our picture and to tell us to have a great time.  He knew where we were going before we did....

We also had a police escort. That was a whole new experience. Stopping traffic and weaving in and out.  10 busses.  Amazing.

It took about an hour to reach the Royal Temple and once everyone was out of the busses. We watched a Royal Procession. WOW there must of been 300 people from little boys holding torches, to women carrying fruit on top of there heads.  We were to follow in and the end.

We then were greeted by beautiful girls throwing flower pedals in front and on us.  We also were given a small pineapples with drinks of rum punch in it very very good. Then we were guided in to the Royal Temple and sat a round tables for our 5 coarse meal.

Day 114. April 26, 2016. Overnight Docked in Bali, Indonesian on the Far East Traveler

Woke up this morning after a great sleep and we went up to the horizons to wait for the golf and collect all our mail. Wifi always seems faster up there.  We have a nice brunch today from 9:30-1pm.  There are lots of sail boats out here that have spider like legs.  Must be something special. The volcanoes, are beautiful you can see the lush tropical jungles, and I am sure it's full of exotic wildlife.
Bali is a favorite place for Bob & I we both just love it.  The Balinese people are so friendly, always smiling, and love to talk to the tourist.
Today we have hired our friend Made whom we met last year for 2 days.  Because we only have 4 hours  today ( because of our special ATW Event a Balinese temple fest). We are just going to go to the beach and spend time there.

Yep had my feet srubbed and messaged.  Felt so good.
I will write up tonight's event tomorrow with our tour with Made tomorrow.  We have him again tomorrow. He is going to take is to the Sacred  Monkey Forest and to to sunset Temple or Tahnan Lot.  Just read that back and I said a lot of tomorrow's .   Sorry
