Day 2 ~ August 2, 2024 Traveling to Charlottetown P.E.I.

After a full Breakfast we loaded our luggage back onto the bus well we didn’t our super bus drive Kaj did.  We had a potty break or comfort stop about 1.5 into the drive.  We stop at a place called Hartland that had a wonderful piece of history.  It holds the Worlds Longest Covered Bridge that is 1282 feet long.  Built in 1921 with a walkway added to the side of it in 1945.  There is a story that back then when horse and buggies would ride thur the bridge the men would train the horses to stop in the middle of the bridge and they would seek a kiss.  So we walked across it and sneaked a kiss.

After a quick stop we boarded back on and continued till lunch time 12:30.  After a quick lunch we continued on  Cape Jourmain in order to cross the Confederation Bridge to P.E.I.
The Bridge which opened in 1997 which spans 13 kilometre and is one of the longest in the world.  Bob’s son-in-law Don worked on the ice shields (on the bottom of the pillars which held the bridge up).  The ice shields broke up the free flowing ice that travels down in the spring. Just after the bridge we had a potty break and stopped at a place called Gateway Village.  Pretty run down.  Few picture ops.

Ok we arrive at the Hampton Hotel just outside of Charlottetown around 5 pm. Got refreshed and had 2 relaxing drinks.  At 6:00 got a message that Nancy & Don were waiting for us in the lobby.  They took us to Boston pizza and we all have great dinners.  We visit in the bar area for 2.5 hours.  Great visit.  Tomorrow is a very busy day.  Back in the hotel and in our jammies by 8:45.  P.E.I. Potatoes are ready.

Hugs your travel buddies Bob & Leslee
