Day 13 ~ August 13, 2024. Day 2 of St John’s Newfoundland

We are off after a wonderful breakfast here at the Sheraton.  Today we have a 3 hour guided tour. We first did the Jelly bean Street, just a drive by.

Our tour guide from McCarthy’s Party

                       Jelly Bean Houses
Read the saying on the window.  Beauty Salon

Next we headed to Mile #0 where Terry Fox dunked his artificial leg into the Atlantic Sea. I learned today that Newfoundland is not considered to be in the Maritimes it is in the Atlantic province.

After the Terry Fox we went down the street on Duckworth and saw Mile Marker # 1
Then it was off to the War Memorial from WW1 and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier a Newfoundland man.

Signal Hill, was next on the agenda and it was a sunny morning for us to go there.

This is the most North Eastern piece of land in North America

And my favorite part of the day was going to Quidi Vidi.  Bob has wanted me to see this place for 20 years. So here I am.  We only had 20 minutes here so no time for a beer at the brewery

It was now 11:30 and they were taking us to a Mall so we could use the variety of the food court and restrooms.  Then it was off to our boat trip to see whales and Puffins 30 minutes away.  But no whales today only different kinds of birds on a island

A Bald Eagle sitting on top of the middle tree

A hole in the middle of the rock

This is a Ocean Sunfish

Even though we did not see any whites it was a great day.  Nighty night.  Bob & Leslee
