Day 2 ~ Sea Day on Norwegian Getaway

Sea days we love Sea days……this morning we both slept in till 7 a.m. guess it was a very stressful few days. We both got dressed and went to find some breakfast.  Breakfast was good quite overwhelming at first with so many stations.  We thought it seemed impossible to find a seat but we just kept walking towards the back until we found a seat.  Food was very good and it wasnt hard to get food. Just took some patience.  The hashbrowns were incredible and so much fruit.  They also offered English, Indian, and Asian cultured breakfast. After breakfast we decided we are just going to relax and walk around the ship getting to know where a few things are located.   We have already been to Starbucks for a nice café mocha.

Well we certainly have enjoyed getting back on a ship and it’s only going to get better as we head further South.

Still a little cool on the outside deck but it’s starting to warm up.  Tomorrow should be nice and warm

First impression of the ship I felt it looked way better than the pictures and videos I looked at. It really looked nice. Was pretty easy to navigate. Casino is big and very busy.  I still do not understand people that play on the ships. On the bar side of Osheehans you can watched sports.  All the Tv"s have the same game on.  They also have a mini bowling it’s 6.99 a game we watched for awhile. We played some darts and pool for awhile.  Guess my pool playing at the condo helped a bit.  At least I kinda knew what I was doing.  Today was a great day.   Nice and relaxing.

Day 1 ~ Boarding the Norwegian Getaway in New York City

Busy morning up early, putting things back into the carry on, and then we are having a breakfast back on the 8th floor.  Hey we ate on eight.  Haa ha. Checkout complete ✅   Waiting now in the lobby with a coffee in hand.  We are both like kids again getting all excited. We need to be in the lobby by 9:30 a.m. for our pickup onto the ship.  Oh we are on the move to be continued … You now have times to check-in on the ship thanks to Covid.  Our time is between 10-11.  So we should be settled by noon just in time for lunchso Embarkation was a breeze. We got there about 10:30 - there was a porter at our drop off to take our bags - don’t forget to tip these guys well. They do a quick check of the edocs , go through normal security check point , then we were pointed to go to the end of the port to get our boarding cards and board group - whole process took 15-20 minutes no lines at that time. Not a lot of places to sit. Didn’t have to stand around long - we boarded about 11:30.  We are now sitting at O Sheehan’s before noon with a drink and food. In New York since we haven’t sailed yet and are not in international water they tax you on your drinks. We were able to get into our room around 2pm and our bags arrived about that time as well. We took the time to tour all the things , spa , fitness room , entourage , all the decks etc   Will post the pictures tomorrow.  We need to do the muster drill full drill after we pass the Lady Liberty so we departed at 3

Wings for lunch from Sheehan Bar & Grill.  We just split this order.

But we each had our own yummy drinks.

Back in November we book 4 dinners at Specialty Restaurants that is part of our booking.  Tonight is the first one it’s at Cagney’s Steakhouse.  It was recommended to book early so we did.  Will let you know tomorrow on how we liked it.  Oh I forgot to say this is our room we are in a balcony on the 12 floor center of ship.  It’s perfect.

So sail away was around 3pm and it was nice to be able to see Lady Liberty as she stands proud.

So it’s pretty cold out on the balcony and once we passed this beautiful site we went in and walked around.  We got a nice warm drink again from Starbucks (only because they are free). I would never pay these ridiculous prices for a specialty coffee or Hot Cocoa.  We walked around for an hour and a half then decided to go to the room and change for dinner.  Ok so we have decided to grab a drink then go to dinner.  Dinner was absolutely wonderful.  Bob had Lobster Bisque and I had giant shrimp cocktail.  They were yummy

Bob had a Porterhouse steak and I had a rib eye.  Lots of food.  Couldn’t eat half of it but we each had a dessert.  Bob had a Butterscotch cheesecake and I had a 7 layer chocolate cake.   We walked around to wear off some of our dinner.  We decided to skip the entertainment tonight just too long of a day.  Nighty night.💋💋💋.  Yep we are getting old...

2023 February 25 ~ Traveling to New York City for our NCL Cruise

YEAH ITS FINALLY HERE

Up very early this morning. Our bus picked us up at 7:32 from Gananoque car pool lot just like they said.  Thank you Frank for taking us here and waiting so we didn’t get cold  I was like a kid in a candy store with this big grin on my face. It’s freakin cold -20 c this morning so our Uggs were a must and a fleecy winter jacket. This is a sold out tour so we are masking as much as possible. Bus ride to the border we stopped at the Duty Free for a potty break and water or snacks.  Then we all got back on the bus and our next stop will be a mall in Scranton Pennsylvania for lunch as there are food courts and an Applebee’s of coarse we had a slice of pizza. They gave us a hour for lunch then it was back on the bus for the rest of the way to New York City.  Yep glad we wore our Uggs today because tonight when we walk around our feet will be snug as a bug in a rug Ha ha.  We are staying at the Marriott Marquis on 46th and Broadway. Right in Times Square.   Like right where the Ball drops on New Years .

Singing waiter and waitress here.  So entertaining. We just peeked in

We got all checked in and put things in the safe then we have dinner at 5:30 on the 8th floor which is the lobby and all the restaurants and gift shops. At dinner we meet  alot of people from the Kingston Belleville area.  It’s been a very long day and we just came in from our short walk around Times Square.  Until you’ve seen Times Square at night, you haven’t really seen New York.  Dazzling lights illuminate the area, pedestrians from every corner of the world converge a cacophony of sounds from street musicians to taxi horns fills the air.  Dozen of theatres each present world class performances, restaurants and shops beckon you to come and take a look.  The general hubbub of activity makes Times Square a place like no other.  As the song suggests “There’s no business like show business.”and there’s no better place to experience it than Times Square. Tomorrow will be a very busy day so we are calling it a night.    Nighty night all ❤️

2023 February ~ New York City

We are so ready for this...

Welcome to the ‘Big Apple’! New York City is one of the ultimate cosmopolitan destinations where you can take a cruise. Its prominent location on the Atlantic seaboard makes it an ideal homeport for cruise lines to sail ships to Bermuda, the Caribbean, New England, and Europe. Heading out on a cruise ship down the Hudson River while passing iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty is truly a once-in-a-lifetime thrill!  Have dinner at Lombardi’s This Little Italy icon has the distinction of being the oldest pizza shop in the country, and it’s also one of the best. How do we know? The pepperoni disks curl around the edges, and the coal oven chars the crust. Just don’t think this quality comes easy:

Since 1905 Gennaro Lombardi crafted pizza in the United States using his bakers trade he learned from Naples.

Lombardi is credited with developing New York Style pizza and making Lombardi's the first pizzeria in the United States
