We just love Athens. We have been hear many times and just always find something else to see.
Greece is commonly known as the birthplace of democracy and Athens serves as Greece's capital. This is one of the oldest cities in the world. Dating back some 7,000 years. One of the most important structures in Greece is the Parthenon. This temple was completed in 438 BC and was dedicated to Athena a Greek goddess and the patron of the city of Athens. The first ever Olympic Games were held in 1896 in the Panathinaiko stadium. The original structure was rebuilt and now is the only major stadium made entirely of white marble.
We took the train from the port of Piraeus to the city of Athens and had a great lunch in the plaza area. It so much fun to walk around this area of the city. Great for watching the people.
Love love Greece.......don't want to leave
