We decided early on when we new we were going to Liverpool, that we wanted to see memorabilia from the Beatles. Well today was beyond anything I could of imagined. It is a self guided tour that you walk through with headphones on listening to narration that takes you through the major event of the Beatles history and career. The museum is underground so it spreads out and seems to go forever. This is an amazing quantity of artifacts and photos distributed throughout the exhibit and each phase of their career is reproduced in its own setting. Many of their own instruments are here an the are recreations of the Mersey Beat office in Liverpool, Hessy's music store, the Cavern Club, the Casbah Club, and the most impressive a life size layout of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. There were costumes, album covers, instruments promo gear, magazines, and newspapers.
When we emerged into the sunlight again - we went to buy a ticket to the Magical Mystery Tour, which is a 2-hour bus tour taking you to all the important sights in Liverpool connected to Beatles history. We stopped at all the Beatles' childhood homes, drove past the Liverpool Art Institute, Brian Epstein's family home, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and ended up at the Cavern Club.
It was an amazing day and we totally immersed ourselves in Beatle lore. It feels like all the citizens of Liverpool are in a friendly conspiracy with you when you are a Beatles fan - everyone loves the Beatles and they all fully understand why you do, too.
What a great day, Thanks for coming along with us
Bob & Leslee
