Day 42 February 14, 2016 Docked at Durban, South Africa on the Indian Ocean Passage

Happy Valentines Day to you all.  Today is was hot 97 degrees.  Last night our ship was rocking pretty bad.  Wind had winds at 80 mph and swells at 9 feet.  The ship had to slow down last night and that made us arrive in port 2 hours late.  We had a first experience on board.  The pilots come in on helicopter being lowered to the deck of the ship.  Very interesting and a first

Today we had a great tour with CC (cruise critic) .  We boarded our van with 6 other couples and left the Durban area and headed to the "Valley of the 1,000 Hills"  Where we saw the people of the Debe Clan have made their homes for over 200 years.  They open their homes to us to see a way of life that really has not changed for ages.  There were guides from the community that took us on a small tour of where we visited the home of a family and leaned about their culture.  We also visited a traditional healer known in Zulu as a Sangama.  We also learned about healing plants and got the insights into the spiritual beliefs of the Zulu people.  We also got a special welcome from the local Chief.

So onto Richards Bay tomorrow arrival 8:00am

Thanks for joining our journey with us.
