Day 16 Jan 19, 2016 ~ Belem Brazil Is the mouth of the Amazon River, on the Atlantic Ocean Exploration

Belém, in Pará state, is one of Brazil's busiest ports - and it's about 60 miles upriver from the Atlantic ocean! The river is the Pará, part of the greater Amazon river system, separated from the larger part of the Amazon delta by Ilha de Marajó. Belém is built on a number of small islands intersected by channels and other rivers. During the height of the nineteenth century rubber boom, the Ver O Peso market was designed and built in England and assembled in Belém. In addition to the fresh fruit, plants and fish brought to market by dugout canoe, you'll find lots of items for macumba ceremonies, medicinal herbs and potions, alligator and crocodile body parts and anaconda snakes. God I hate snakes...The market is on the docks, and is one of the largest in Brazil.  So is the organ in the Catherdral in Belem. This is a tender port for us.

So we walked all around the famous Market then went to the Fort and the Churches.  Hot
85degrees and chance of rain but never did so it was very humid.
Had to have a local beer, before we left....Sea day tomorrow.....
This is Eric Christensen and he was a fabulous singer. I got 2 photos then the cruise director came down and asked me not to take any more photos.  Got to get this cleared up.  It says in the paper no flash photography.  I had no flash on.  I was very confused. Not going to give up.  You cant tell me that you cant take pictures...hummmmmmmmmmm
