Day 51~ Tuesday August 20, 2019 Cologne, Germany on the Viking European River Cruise

Cologne was our first major stop on the cruise and arriving in Cologne from the river was exciting for everyone.
As our river cruise approached its Cologne mooring, we were all on the sundeck admiring Cologne Cathedral whose towering twin spires were like a beacon guiding us into port.  Its a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest Cathedral n Germany Called "Dom".  This is a very Gothic Cathedral, with lots of stained windows and very little time to explore.  Largest Gothic catherdral in Northern Europe.
At quite a pace, we zig-zagged the streets of Cologne, through a few squares to see various attractions. The time given to visit Cologne Cathedral was too short. At noon, we had to return to the ship for our lunch then back off and walking back into town. Tonight we leave for Koblenz. We really enjoyed our day today.  Weather was mid 70's felt great.

 Windfall

A "windfall" is a sudden, unexpected rush of wind from a
mountainous shore which allows a ship more leeway.
