Love this city in Iceland there is really alot to see and do here. Last time we were here was back in July 2014 and we are lucky to see the area again. We have an overnight here so 2 great days. Today we walked into town from where the ships dock maybe a kilometer. Sun is out but a tad cool only 12 Celsius. First was to the church called Hallgrimskirkja. From the observation area in the steeple you could overlook the city, seeing many colorful roofs of homes all along the coast.

Some great views and some awesome weather. We went looking for the coffee shop that we visited back in 2004. They had the best Hot Chocolate and free wifi.
Found it
a Viking Ship.
The big thing to see here is the Pingvellir National Park which holds the historical significance as being the site where Iceland Parliament began its first meeting in 930AD. Pingvillir itself is a huge rift valley where the North American and Eurasians continental plates meet and are physically tearing apart. We also did this back in 2014 the geyser which is dotted with pools of boiling water and steam vents from the ground below, which is really a weird site since there is a glacier in the background. This geyser explodes every 10 minutes give or take . Next thing you cant miss on this Golden Circle is the Gullfoss waterfall. You can hear this waterfall before you can see it. As you come closer you begin to realize the enormity of this waterfall. First drops 10 meters and then turns another 20 meters into a gorge below. A spray mist from the falls created a rainbow over the entire sight. Huge dramatic and beautiful are the best words I can find to describe Gullfoss.
So until tomorrow, thanks for coming along on this journey with us
Hugs, Bob & Leslee
