Helsinki what have I learned about Helsinki? Well the Fins were very poor people way back when. It was once owned by Sweden then part of Russia. They eat a lot of Reindeer meat kinda like we do cows.As we docked around 7:30 we had already ate breakfast and Bob and I and Wendy went exploring on our own.
We took the shuttle Bus which dropped us off near the downtown area. This city is very easy to get around. Most of the sights were around Senate Square. We first stopped at the Helsinki Cathedral. Then we turned around and walked back toward the harbour. Found a wonderful little market. Oh I forgot we also went to this beautiful Cathedral called Uspenski which was located on a very large rock formation. Today is a much needed slow day after 2 full days in Russia. We didn't need to be back to the ship till 4:00 so we just walked around the town today. Also was able to find Free wifi in the market square.
This was a very interesting prayer room
Inside this oval , Round prayer room
The Church built into the rock
Thanks for joining us on this amazing Cruise in the Baltics. Your traveling friends Bob & Leslee
