This morning we have another Safari this one was only a 1-day though. It was in Tsavo East National Park together with Tsavo West National Park form one of the world’s largest national parks, covering a massive 4% of Kenya. Tsavo East is the larger of the two. The wildlife found in this park includes large herds of elephants, mane less lions, hippos, giant crocodiles and an assortment of bird life among others. This park boasts of the largest herds of elephants in Kenya which are red in colour as a result of spraying themselves with the rusty red soil of the park in order to keep cool and deter parasites. We had 16 passengers. 4 to a jeep and we did the Tsavo day safari. They picked us up at the dock and we were transported in open jeeps (Land cruisers) and not air conditioned.
So this this morning we boarded our Land Rover for a 2.5 hour drive north. The drive was bumpy, 2-lane traffic with lots and I mean lots of transport drivers because of this being a major port.
Parts of the road they are upgrading so these is lots of red clay dust coming from everywhere.
Our windows were all open because we were traveling in a open Land Rover. We had a great time.
I think we lost t least 3 lb. of fat due to the bumpy ride. 100 times worst then a
roller coaster. Some times the driver/guide could not see anything in front of him because of the dust.
We were passing alot in the other lane with oncoming trucks coming towards us. They are very good drivers and are very courteous. They all move into the ditch or slow down. You just had to be riding with us to experience this. Never in a moment would North America allow this. This went on for 2.5 hours. Once we got to the Safari place we drive into the park and this is what we saw.
lots of these wonderful creatures.
Lots of Bird Life as well
there were 3 of these.
To be continued.....
