Facts about Maine: It’s the only state with one syllable; it borders only one other state; it’s the largest state in the Northeast but the 12th smallest state; with its 1 million people it is the 9th smallest state in population in the US; it produces lots of potatoes and blueberries; 80% of the land is covered in forest; no wonder it is the Pine Tree State; and 80% of all toothpicks in the world come from Maine. Bar Harbor is a beautiful town on Mount Desert Island along Maine's Frenchman Bay. We took the free shuttle that circles through Arcadia. This is our first tender port which means we will anchor in Frenchman Bay and be transpported to the pier by the Zaandams Tenders which are the life boats.
