Day 3 ~ Wednesday July 03, 2019 Arrival in Oslo Norway on the 34 day Baltic Spitsbergen & Icelandic Fjords Explorer

Today is all about sculptures
Doing Oslo on our own was pretty easy.  The city is small and compact and most everything worth seeing is within a short distance. Just getting off the ship at the cruise port we found a tourist information desk as soon as we left the ship.  With lots of maps and brochures.  Lots of Museums here in this city. A very walkable city, which is what we love to do.  When we get older we can book the excursions with the older people.  They also had a Hop On Hop Off buss here.  We grabbed our friend Wendy from L.A. and off we went to explore by local tram.  Today we explored Gustov Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite, and wrought iron.  Wow impressive.  Vigeland this man that did all these sculptures was also in charge of the layout and design of the park.  Completed in 1939-1949. This city is not a cheap city at all.  Very expensive.  We found free WiFi right behind City Hall.  Most restaurants have also free WiFi.  Thank God for Free WiFi.  On our way back to the port we visited an old shipyard. It has many restaurants and shops.  Transportation in this city is great.

Notice the brass soft hand has been worn off.

"The traveler was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing." – Daniel J. Boorstin
