Day 22~ Monday July 22, 2019 Ny Alesund Spiltsbergen Norway on the 34 Day Baltic Spitsbergen & Icelandic Fjords Explorer

This port brings us to the northern most community in the world.  Population in the summer is 190 and only 35 in the winter.
  We are about 600 miles from the North Pole.  They have a harbour, an airstrip, a small shop, museum, and of coarse the northern most Post Office in the World.  Bob and I can actually say we have been to the most northern most and the southern most communities and P.O. offices in the world.  (Ushuaia in Argentina being the southernmost.)  The people that work up here have to be scientists.  Lots of research is done up here.  From Climate, Marine Biology, Geology, Snow and Ice, Atmosphere, and animals.  Polar Bears and Reindeer and some geese.  That's about it.
