January 6, 2019 Sea Day Traveling towards Havana Cuba

As we have a sea day on route to Havana we are just relaxing our way thorough the day.  Just so thoughts on our day tomorrow.
First of all we are wishing Lea a very wonderful Happy Birthday.  Doing this a day ahead because I don’t know about wifi in Cuba.  So have a great day Lea.  Happy Birthday

For the first time in 55 years many ordinary Americans can travel to the island nation 90 miles south of Florida without prior approval from both governments thanks to the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.  Canadians could always travel so this opens it up to a lot more people.  I always thought that when Cuba finally opened up to everyone, you needed to see this country before it changes.  I think if it ever does it will be a long time coming.  It will take years in the making to change everything.  Doing my research on things to do in Cuba I knew that we had to go to Hemingway’s house. He’s kind of a huge deal in Cuba and pretty much anything he’s ever touched has now been crowned a UNESCO site (slight exaggeration). Visiting Cuba you can go to his favourite Mojito bar (La Bodeguita), his top daiquiri bar (El Floridita), and visit the Hemingway Marina, so of course his house is a preserved and patrolled mausoleum sprawling acres in San Francisco de Paula, just 9 miles from Havana.  But for us we only have 1 day 7:00am - 5:00 pm.  We have a tour booked all day so we shall see a lot and ride in a 50"s car.

This morning we had a beautiful brunch because its Sunday.  You name it they had it on the brunch.  Today is a very peaceful relaxing day just doing nothing and getting ready for our adventure for tomorrow.  We've saved you a seat so come along on our journey.
