March 22, 2017. Arrerife Lanzarote Canary Island Spain on the 2017 Grand Mediterranean Cruise

This city is the islands capital city since 1852.  Once a prime target of pirates the area settled in the 15th century as a small fishing village and now a major port serving the other Canary Islands, Europe, and Mainland Africa.  Once called the "Venice of the Atlantic".  It also has 2 castles that were once used to defend from pirates and guard the harbor.  We had a very vibrating landing on this island.  There are no tree's here and it's really looks like a lunar landing.  We had a free shuttle into town.  Only 3 miles into town. Shops all close at noon to 5 so we are just seeing some sights.
Tomorrows is a sea day then into Morrocco.  Not sure about wifi???
Will try and post when I can.
