Townsville shines....and it welcomes you to Australia's largest tropical city. Today the high was 84 with 69% humidity. Getting a lot cooler as we travel south to Sydney. Townsville is a charming blend of old and and new, with so much history and surprising culture depth that has been shaped by Aboriginal tribes, miners, pastoralist and war. Remnants of these bygones times are still evident in the beautiful colonial architecture, historical pubs, museums and displays of old gold mining machinery and cottages.Townsville is just starting to get tourist in there city. They get 4/5 ships in a year. There main industry is still sugar cane and mango farming to the south. The Great Barrier Reef sprawls to the east, the Outback beckons to the west. Islands and rainforest to the north of the city. There is a huge mountain of rock as you come into town. Which dominates the city, offers view over the town and the coast. Today we walk and walked the water front. It's called the Strand. Pictures will tell our dayBob wanting to climb the mountainI am using the stairs part wayBeaches are beautiful. All empty as well. They have Box Jellies that can kill you, so everyone swims in the man made lagoonsswimming lagoon. We wanted to go under this fall to get wet.So tomorrow we have a SEA DAY then it's Brisbane. Can't wait...Thanks for coming along with us. Leslee & BobCherish The Moments, Love Deeply, Dream Big
