Day 55 March 01 2015 - Semarang Java. Indonesia

Another happy/sad day for our staff. Our waiter Fendi has family coming aboard today and spending some time with him. He has 2 children a boy that is 2 and a girl that is 4. Boy are they going to be happy to see their papa.
Little history for you..the first inhabited people were the Chinese in the 15 century. Became part of the Dutch East India Company. You can still experience the colonial days of the Dutch East India company by visiting Old Semarang and seeing the old building that are still standing.
On a cruise that we took back in 2013 we did a side trip to the Borobudur Temple where ten massive stone terraces each representing a different stage of enlightenment are topped by the Great Stupa. For over a thousand years it was hidden by jungle over growth. It is the most visited site in Indonesia.  Today we are going to take the shuttle into town and go exploring.  This has been an amazing journey so far.
